Moscow's Romen Theatre turns 80

16/12/2011 - The Moscow-based Romen Theatre, which is the oldest and the most famous of Romani theatres in the world, is celebrating its 80th anniversary.

The first Romani performers were recruited from young people and many couldn’t even read or write.
Nowadays, the theatre’s repertoire features 14 productions, including classical ones and modern drama.
Its company has toured many countries of the world winning high acclaim from millions of audiences.
